You must be acquainted with how you can generate energy from the sunrays if you want to install solar panels on your roof. With the growing negative effects of the fossil fuels on the ozone layer and high task on utilities by the government, we are incentived to use this renewable energy now.

It is necessary to study some factors before to buy or to build solar panels. For exemple, the quality of the solar panels, the cost and the climatic conditions.

You can choose between three options acquiring solar panels:

1. SELF-BUILT: Now you can build your won solar panels using very detailed guides. You may ask what a well-detailed guide is.

These guides have pictures and diagrams that show how to assemble the panels either in parallel or in series, or the angle of titling of panels depending the required voltage. The manual will inform you where to get the cheapest panel for your installation. You can have one in less than $200.

2. COMMERCIAL BUILT: this is the employing of the service of experts to make one for you. This mode of generating electric energy through solar panel is so expensive but with warranty of good work.

3. ACQUIRING FAIRLY USED: this method is not common, because a minimum life span of one is 30 years. However, due some reasons such as a person trying to increase the quantity of voltage or relocating to a new place, a decision to dispose the existing one can be taken in this case you can take advantage and buy. It is usually economical when compared to making a new one.

Obviously, the benefit of building one by yourself is huge both financially and environmentally.

The cost is very affordable now. You need to spend the money to acquire such guide and less than $200 to buy the material to make a residential solar. It can be a hobbie for you and at the same time, you can save money and help the environment.

Building a homemade solar panel using a guide with videos has its challenge and that challenge is that it takes longer time than if you buy a new one. On the other hand, the commercial panels are very expensive.

In summary, the best form of learning is learning through an experience teacher, therefore using a tested and trusted manual in making cheap solar panel remains imperative for your success.

The author has BSC in engineering from Cal state University, Los Angeles, USA and MSC in power and energy generation from George Washington University. He has created some homemade solar panelsguides. And has written a lot of articles about diy solar guides.

Technology makes possible to enjoy free electricity. But we continue using very environmentally messy fossil fuels that are destroying the ozone layer. This ozone erosion is causing climate changes that will be very harmful in the long run. But the use of solar energy is clean and free after some initial costs.

Electricity from solar power is generated from the sunrays. It can be an unlimited resource. Power plants use very expensive fuels that harm our environment. The idea for adopting a solar energy lifestyle is far too interesting.

You can purchase your own solar panel availables on internet. Prices go from $1000 to over $7600. In Amazon you can buy a solar panel kit for close $8000.

If you use quality materials to begin with, combined with some talent, you will have a quality product that may outlast the best that commercial setups have to offer. If you want a science project, yes, you will pay $3 per watt. If you go 1.5kW, I believe it can be as low as $1.7 per W:

Cost per 150 W:

- 3/4in 2ft x 4ft plywood panel $20.

- Junction box $1.

- Clear silicone caulk/sealant $2.

- 50ft tabbing wire and 10ft bus wire, $20.

- Clear silicone caulk/sealant $2.

- Screws, aluminium frame $10.

- Diodes $3 – Excludes time (call it 10-15 hours).

- Clear plexiglass $20 (at low volume).

- Diodes $3 – Excludes time (call it 10-15 hours).

- Flux pen and solder $5 (technically less).

Then, the total cost per panel is around $250, it means 1.65 per Watt.

I want to clarify that to connect panels to the grid you need to have UL certification, in the US. But only if you want sell your stored energy.

Nowadays, the do it yourself person can obtain everything that is needed to make their own work. Several DIY books and videos can be bought online. They are all very good step by step guides with very good explanations to build your solar panels.

You can check that material not cost more than about $250 or even $200. This is under $8000 price for some commercial panels you can find on Amazon. You can enjoy this project with your family, building together the solar panel. With the DIY manual everyone can build easily solar panels, but with some efforts.

The author is an electrical engineer that has been working more than ten years in the green field applications. He explains how greendiyenergy works. And wrote a lot of articles about home made solar panels.
