The Future of Electricity Is Amazing

Wednesday, February 3rd, 2010

There have been talks about the future of electricity and many have differing opinions. Let us discuss some of these.

Electricity will be wireless!

Just imagine, wireless electricity. Right now, you know it may still be a dream. But if you refer this to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, their team that conducted a wireless electricity experiment will say that this technology is possible. An uninterrupted and wireless supply of electricity will be a technology many will welcome with open arms.

Impossibility of this new technology no longer has basis. The experiment from MIT will prove your doubts wrong. Surely, you will find electrical appliances will be charged by wireless means.

Consumers will be given complete control!

Many industry experts believe that the future will be more consumer-oriented. How much electricity you need and how it will be supplied to your place will all be dependent on your decision. Mandatory amounts will be a thing of the past. When you go out for a long time, and you shut off the electricity in your house, the said mandatory amount will no longer be in effect.

The control options in the future for energy consumers will be amazing. No one can really tell how soon this will be or how long we will have to wait. One thing is for sure though, in the future, consumers will have full control of what they use–how wonderful is this?

Electrical energy will be clean!

Carbon dioxide will be emitted in the air, with the remains of electricity production. Not environment-friendly at all, unlike the future of electricity production wherein it is expected to be clean and green.

Now that the drive is going green, electricity is expected to come from renewable sources. This will make it more environment-friendly. At this age and time, production is made possible by consuming fuels, which should be a thing in the past already.

All things will be electric!

Electric cars and shavers make it possible for other things to run based on electricity. The limits would only be one’s imagination. Who knows that the future will bring electric shoes, toothbrushes, combs, glasses and clothes?

If you chance upon futuristic shops in Akihabara, Japan–you will witness that such things are possible in the future.

No more outages in the future!

With the trend of things becoming electric, there will be a need of continuous and sufficient supply of power. This can be possible with the use of alternative power supply options. In the future, power outages will no longer be a problem. And consumers will benefit from this set-up.

Wind Generator For Your Energy Essentials

Friday, January 29th, 2010

Do you know what a wind generator is?

Machines that use wind energy to convert into electrical energy are called wind generators. Wind energy is captured by the machine and converted into mechanical energy. With mechanical energy, the blades of the motor move to produce electricity. A wind generator is capable of producing enough megawatts of electricity for your home. No doubt, these machines are becoming very popular not only for individual farms, but for wide areas having sufficient wind speed.

One can set up a home wind generator without professional help. It is quite easy actually. One can refer on the many guides available out there. Also, the components you will need are readily available in the market–so you will not have problems acquiring these.

How does a wind generator differ from a windmill or wind turbine?

Wind generators have been in use for a long time in the form of windmills or wind turbines. Years ago, when electricity was not invented, wind turbines were used to pull boats and pump out water.

The use of the terms wind generator, windmill and wind turbines are used interchangeably, and are used to mean the same thing.

Wind generators provide many advantages. Here are a few for you to appreciate.

First: Wind generators are environment-friendly. There are two proofs:

Harmful gases are not emitted into the atmosphere. More so, harmful residual components are not left to damage the environment.

They do not use any fuel to produce electricity, thereby helping the cause of the environment.

Second: Wind generators are power-savers. An alternative power source, a wind generator is renewable. This is a great feature as compared to non-renewable types.

Third: It is economical. You only have to spend some initial amount at the start. But in the long run, you will be saving more. After a few years, you will have your return of investment.

Independent option: Wind generators do away with the dependence on power plants and the government for electricity. With a wind generator in your land, you have your own power plant for life.

Fifth: This will provide you with 24/7 power. With wind generators, you will not have to contend with power outages. You will enjoy the continuous and uninterrupted supply for your home.

6th: It allows for power storage option. A wind generator will provide for more than what you will need. The excess power can then be stored for later use.

A wind generator is the better choice. You help in preserving the world, at the same time help resolve the existing energy crisis.

Wind Power Solutions You Can Opt For

Thursday, January 28th, 2010

The trend shows that supply of power is of high demand. With this, it is about time that one should take action now to save on power. One can go about this by going for alternative power supply sources. Not only will these substitutes allow you to save on power cost, these will also help promote environment-friendly power sources.

Perhaps, the two most popular alternative power solutions are solar power and wind power. These are found to be quite efficient as the conventional power solutions that are employed currently in many homes.

Such solutions give more than one benefit: reduce power cost, address power outages and help the environment.

This article will show the wind power solutions that fits your case.

Wind power solutions work best when the following conditions are met:

You have a house or farmhouse spread over a big area. Typically, wind power solutions are employed in areas that spread over an acre.

Eleven miles per hour should be the average wind speed in your area. This will ensure that the wind power solution will generate enough electricity for your use. To be safe and sure, consulting an expert will be a good way to go.

You need to draw water from external sources. You can install a wind power system even when you do not need to draw water from outside. However, if you need to draw water from outside on a regular basis, a wind power system offers the best solution.

An uninterrupted power supply will work well, if you have this on your house. With wind power systems, power outages can be taken cared of. This environment-friendly power system will allow you a worry-free mindset with regards to power interruptions.

A typical wind power system comprises of a tower and five blades to churn out wind energy. The length of the wind tower varies depending on the location of your house. You may need a longer tower if you are in low-wind zone; you can work with a shorter tower if you live by the beach.

A wind generator can convert wind energy into electricity for use on your house. Regardless of the number of appliances you have, the energy needed can be served sufficiently. One can also opt to store power so that these can be used later on. This feature make wind power solutions flexible and efficient.

Tips on How To Save Power

Saturday, January 23rd, 2010

In school we have been taught stuff about renewable and non-renewable sources of energy. But perhaps there were details that were left out, or parts where we missed out on. One such thing would be the event of consuming more of non-renewable sources at a faster rate.

If we look at the current situation we are in now, we will realize that we are faced with an energy crisis. All are affected by this situation–and leaving this problem to the government alone will not help solve the problem. We can help. We can make a difference.

Let us see some ways we can help save on power at our own homes.

Computer: More often than not, we do not switch off our monitors even after we have shut down our computers. Keep the monitor and the computer switched off when you are not using them.

Start practicing this even when at work. You will help save some more power for the world.

Light bulbs: You can search for other cost-efficient bulbs in the market. You may want to consider trying out compact fluorescent light (CFL) bulbs. You can save more power and of course, this would equate to lesser power bills.

Many consider these bulbs a wise investment. This is true, when you look at it with a long term perspective.

Air Conditioner: Too many people are not concerned with the right temperature settings for their air conditioners. The result: higher power bills. You can actually turn this around by being conscious on setting the temperature just right.

Washing Machines: Do you use your washing machine as often as you want? Do you use your washing machine even when there are not enough clothes to wash? Minimize the number of washes by washing full load of clothes every time.

Television: Take off the power plug of your television set when not using it. This may not sound a big deal but this tiny step will help save power.

Geysers: It will be to your benefit to keep the thermostat at minimum heat. There is no need to heat the water at high temperatures in longer periods of time.

Refrigerator: Quickly putting hot food inside the refrigerator will cost you more power, since it will need more cooling. You can remedy this by bringing the hot food to room temperature first. After which, you can then place the food inside the refrigerator.

Car: Before you turn on the air conditioner of your car, you can save energy by ensuring you have pulled up the windows of your car.

Renewable Energy Solutions That Can Save Money

Tuesday, January 19th, 2010

We are in an energy crisis at this point in time. Without a doubt, the demand for energy is high enough to quickly deplete the resources. The time is ripe for switching from non-renewable to renewable sources of energy. The latter are those solutions capable of supplying energy for the electricity needs while saving on the resources.

The three types of energy solutions for the renewable classification include: solar energy, hydro energy and wind energy solutions.

Solar energy solutions: This is the most abundant energy available naturally, and is considered free energy. For your power needs at home, this will more than suffice.

It will help you save on power bills when you use this type of energy. Solar cookers, heating and lighting systems use this type of energy. While saving money, you are also supporting a greener environment.

The sun has always been a source of heat energy and light energy. With the advancement of technology, the suns energy can be used to create other forms of energy.

Using solar energy can bring you a lot of advantages. Quick to be associated with solar energy systems are the cost-effectiveness and environment-friendliness of these. Also, maintenance of such a system is not a problem.

The return of investment with such a system is relatively quick. After some time, your system will seem to be of little to no cost at all. That is why there are many families that have employed the use of solar energy on their homes by using appliances and devices that are powered with solar energy.

Hydro energy solutions: Water energy is a renewable type. This can be easily converted to electrical energy to make the appliances and devices function as intended. The downside for this is that it is generated on large scale basis.

Hydro power comprises 90% of the electrical energy generated from renewable sources. A good example is a dam that efficiently powers a wide area with electricity by using hydro power.

There have been concerns raised, however, of the negative effect of such energy to the water-borne flora and fauna.

Wind energy solutions: Windmills were used way back to tow boats; these were also used to pump water. Currently, this is one way of effectively generating electricity.

Windmills and wind turbines have never been pass. Wind energy can help generate tonnes of megawatts of electricity. When employed at individual estates, it can help do away with conventional power sources.

An excellent renewable source of energy, the wind energy will go a long way in promising a good future to generations to come.

The Urgent World Energy Crisis

Sunday, January 17th, 2010

We are currently faced with a critical energy crisis. Demand is exceeding supply. The trend shows an increasing demand–way beyond what supply can accommodate. And while it is a known fact that energy is not unlimited, we are all guilty of not giving the issue its due attention.

Precautionary measures should have been in order. The energy crisis needs the appropriate focus from all of us, not only from our government.

Oil and gas have already become too expensive, and with each passing day, they are moving towards being extinct. Some ignorant people think that energy crisis is a myth.

They fail to see the big picture. There have been three major energy crises so far ” the 1973 oil crisis, the 1979 energy crisis, and the 1990 oil-price hike, apart from several regional crisis.

The energy prices are now high. This is due to the fact that the supply can’t keep up with the ever-increasing demand.

Until when will this last?

You may still be asking if the energy crisis is really for real. Now here is a fact: fifty percent of the available oil are depleted. And considering the rate we are consuming it, it will all be gone in 32 years time. Now, how about if we consider the possibility of an increase in the rate of consumption?

History tells us that it is bound to increase still. Not only will the existing generation experience the energy crisis, but so will the next generations to come.

What are the actions taken to address this?

Are we equipped to face the impending energy crisis? What can you and I do to tackle it? For starters, we need to understand the importance of energy in our lives and stop taking it for granted. We have to minimize the use of oil, gas, electricity, or any other fuel.

Wasting energy will make matters worse. Information drive should be done so that everyone will be aware of the energy crisis, and so that each can contribute to conserving energy resources. One can help by putting off power when appliances are not in use, switching off car engines when on idle, and joining in car pools.

Are there alternative energy sources?

As a responsible world citizen, start looking for alternate energy solutions like solar energy and wind energy. Employing these alternate power solutions is extremely feasible and cost-effective. You will not only cut down your power bills but also contribute to a better future of the world.
